ANZAC Recount
Pitch Black
I knew the Turks were watching us. I could sense something horrifying was going to happen. I was sweating like a waterfall. There was adrenalin pumping through my veins. Suddenly there was a massive spark of light,I was in shock. It came from one of our steam boats.
The General yelled ‘’We’ve been EXPOSED!’’. There were people dying all around me. I was in one of the last Battalions. Suddenly there were waves of bullets whizzing past my head. I felt an incredible sharp pain in my leg. I was shot. It was painful. It was dark. I thought to myself…...what have I got myself into……

Bullying Speech
Have you ever been called ugly or fat?
Has someone ever made fun of your appearance or colour?
It’s not the best feeling is it?
Everyone in this room has either been bullied or has been a bully at some stage.
Studies have found that in New Zealand and Australian schools one out of six students are harassed or bullied at least once a week. 40% of youth suicide is because of bullying.
One of the most painful aspects of bullying is that it is relentless. Most people can take one episode of teasing or name calling or being ignored at school. However, when it goes on and on, bullying can put a person in a state of constant fear.
Bullying behavior is no longer confined to schools, it can happen at work, sports, using the internet even all of your adult life it you let it!
Over 3.2 million students are victims of bullying each year. One in four teachers see nothing wrong with bullying and will only interfere four percent of the time.Approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying.Seventeen percent of American students report being bullied 2 to 3 times a month or more within a school semester.By age 14 less than 30% of boys and 40% of girls will talk to their peers about bullying.
Bullying may be defined as the activity of “repeated, aggressive behavior intended to hurt another person, physically or mentally.” Bullying is characterized by an individual behaving in a certain way to gain power over another person. Bullying is a really big problem in our society today.
There are many forms of bullying, social media is currently the worst form, as there is so much technology that is not monitored by adults, and in my opinion too much harassment is going on, online, mobiles and even the school yard. It’s not just nasty name calling anymore, there is much more to bullying than there ever used to be.
Netsafe is a website on the Internet that has tools to help parent’s, teacher’s and caregivers curb the bullying, .They promote cybersafety within the areas that they control, and is a good source of help.My mum showed me a Youtube video it’s called Bars & Melody, you should look it up on youtube, this is a great example of how you can
overcome bullying, and every word in their rap is about the struggle these two kids had at school.
In closing I would like to ask all of this group to try and stamp out bullying, tell a peer mediator, a counselor, a teacher or parent if you feel that yourself or someone you know is being bullied, together we can all make a difference!
